Magdalena Ataman is a visual artist living and working in Estonia. Born in Poland, she received her MA in Art from the University of the Arts in Poznań in 2011.n Poznań in 2011.
Her artistic practice is informed by many years of working with images, spatial structures and visual systems. This background continues to shape her sensitivity to composition, scale and material presence, as well as her attention to subtle relationships within the image.
Since 2022, her work has focused on process-based abstraction and material-driven approaches to painting. Rooted in prolonged encounters with specific environments, her practice approaches place as an embodied experience of atmosphere, rhythm and duration, rather than as something to be represented.
